
The Yawkey 5 & 6 building is a 12-story, 510,000-square-foot inpatient care facility located at Boston Medical Center (BMC).
It opened in 2018 and is named after former Boston Red Sox owners Tom Yawkey and Jean Yawkey. The building houses a variety of inpatient units, including medical-surgical, cardiac, and neurological. It also has a number of specialized units, such as the Burn Center, the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
The Yawkey 5 & 6 building is part of BMC’s $1.5 billion Transformation Plan, which is aimed at improving the hospital’s facilities and services.
The building is equipped with the latest technology and features, such as single-patient rooms with private bathrooms, state-of-the-art operating rooms, and a rooftop helipad. It also has a number of patient-centered amenities, such as a dining hall, a chapel, and a meditation room.
