
Wolfspeed is a semiconductor company that focuses on silicon carbide and gallium nitride (GaN) technologies. They are building a $5 billion factory in Chatham County, North Carolina. The factory will be the largest facility of its kind in the world. It will be located at the Chatham-Siler City Advanced Manufacturing Site, which is an industrial park that sits on approximately 1,802 acres. The factory will span 445 acres and will increase Wolfspeed’s materials capacity by more than 10x.
The project is set to be completed in two phases. Phase 1 is expected to be completed by the start of 2024. Full completion is expected by 2030.
